Working in mixed media, I combine monoprint with collage, pen and ink drawing and embroidery to make both illustrative and abstract works. Rich in texture and colour, my work has a poetic atmosphere and is strongly inspired by folklore and mythology, memory and my natural surroundings.
I’ve been an artist ever since I can remember; I’ve always had the urge to create and use my hands. Graduating in woven textiles (Royal Academy of Art, The Hague, 2004) led me to combine textiles and embroidery in my artwork, and the process continues to evolve. The two disciplines, weaving and mixed media art, inform each other and go hand in hand throughout the creative process. You can find my woven work at www.veronicapock.com.
Originally from the UK, I now live and work in the Netherlands with my husband and two children, and it was reading to my young children that gave me the inspiration to write and illustrate my first children’s book, “One little seed”, which was published in Dutch in 2013, and has recently been published in China.
